All teachers employed by Lance Holt School are registered with the Teachers Registration Board of WA. They are committed to the values and philosophy of the school and to providing best teaching practice. Staff attend and contribute to regular professional development, including conferences and workshops, and subscribe to professional journals to keep abreast of current educational innovations. Staff meet on a weekly basis to ensure the smooth running of the school and to discuss curriculum and pedagogy.
DipTeach (SACAE) BEd (WACAE)
Kathryn began her teaching career in a small Indigenous school in outback South Australia for three years, then for two years working in Port Augusta. Kathryn moved to WA, obtained her Bachelor of Education and began working at Lance Holt School, initially as the pre-primary/Year 1 teacher, then as Year 2/3 teacher. In 2000 Kathryn became the coordinator and Year 2/3 teacher. In 2000 Kathryn took on the role of Coordinator.
Learning areas of particular interest in Kathryn’s teaching practice are literacy, numeracy and science. She also has a special interest in values education, and has worked on embedding values education within the school. Kathryn has presented nationally on values education and has had articles published in educational magazines and books. Kathryn led the school in the National Initiative, KidsMatter. Lance Holt School was the first school in Australia to receive national recognition of implementing the KidsMatter Program. In 2013 Kathryn attended an Educational Study Tour to Singapore and in 2014 the China Study Tour.
During her long service leave in 2015 Kathryn had the pleasure of visiting the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
Kathryn is currently studying for her Masters of Educational Leadership at UWA.
Maintaining a strong school community—with committed and innovative teachers, involved parents and enthusiastic children—is a high priority for Kathryn in her role as Coordinator. She has a strong and long-term commitment to community schooling.
Kathryn lives in Beaconsfield with Laz and their two adult children, who have both attended Lance Holt School: Tori and Zak now both study at UWA.
Prindy and Kindy Teacher
Juliet is an early childhood teacher who joined us as the Kindy teacher in 2008. Juliet is a passionate early years educator and believes teaching is a partnership between home and school, and that a strong connection between the two – particularly in the early years – helps to make young children’s school experience a positive one. Juliet regularly partakes in action research and uses research to inform her teaching and learning program. Juliet’s work has been featured extensively in the publication “Early Years Learning Framework in Action” and she has presented locally on young childrens’ literacy.
Juliet lives in Hilton with her child Rubes, a graduate of Lance Holt School.
Year 2 Teacher
Debra has had a an association with the school since 1986 and joined the teaching staff permanently in 2000 as Year 2/3 teacher and Art teacher.
Debra has a special interest in Nature-Based Education and in 2013 attended a Scotland Educational Tour of Forest Kindergartens. Debra established the Bush School Program for Year 2/3 students in 2012. Debra has presented locally on Bush Schools and nature play and her Bush Schools program is featured in the publication “Playing with the Australian Curriculum” and in the soon to be published “Nature Pedagogy”.
Debra lives locally with her family and her two children, Rani and Ari, both of whom have attended Lance Holt School. Ari is studying Business at Notre Dame University and Rani is a qualified nurse. Debra enjoys gardening, reading, long beach walks and swims, and spending time with her family.
Year 3/4 Teacher
DipTeach (Mt Lawley Teachers College)
Christine was born in Perth and raised here and in the Northern Territory. She began her teaching career in Yikkkala, NT, as a teacher at the Aboriginal bilingual school she had attended as a child.
Christine’s children joined Lance Holt School and she began teaching here one day a week. She became the school’s full-time Year 4/5 teacher in 2002. She has presented locally on ‘viewing’ and nationally on maths. She is passionate about motivating kids to a higher level and keeping them inspired and learning for upper school. Christine lives in Samson with her husband Larry. Her daughter, Melissa is a teacher and her son Marty is an auto electrician. Christine enjoys making patchwork quilts, doing crosswords and watching V8 supercars. She is a huge fan of the Dockers!
Year 5/6 Teacher
Seth has taught the upper class at Lance Holt School since 1995. Prior to discovering his passion for teaching Seth worked as a burley maker, welder’s trade assistant, trawler deckhand, builder’s labourer and roof carpenter’s hammerhand. He has been a student of biology, building and seamanship and has backpacked around Europe. Seth has a particular interest in the earth sciences, believing that developing positive attitudes and understanding in children will contribute to the environmental, ecological and sustainable wellbeing of the Earth. Seth enjoys creating a learning environment with hands-on experiences and taking learning beyond the classroom. Seth coordinates the bi-annual Whole School Camp. Seth lives in Daglish with wife Denise and their two adult children, Jessica and Kyle. He enjoys surfing, fishing, kayaking, cycling, raising tropical fish, and spending time with family and friends.

Danica is a passionate early childhood educator who graduated from Curtin University with a BEd with Honours. Her thesis afforded Danica the opportunity to explore her interest in children’s rights where she undertook her research here at Lance Holt. Finding inspiration in the Reggio Emilia approach to education, Danica travelled to Reggio in 2012 and took part in the international study conference. Here she gained a deeper understanding of the philosophy. Danica has a deep love of working with young children and a strong commitment to their education. She lives in Hilton with her new husband Brenton (and their chickens, dogs and cats).

Anna Gibson graduated as the top education student in 2014 from Notre Dame University, Fremantle. Anna has a Bachelor of Education with High Distinction and is passionate and dedicated in providing quality Early Learning programs for the students in her class. Anna and Brett are moving to their new home in Spearwood soon.

After Karen trained as a classroom teacher she worked for a year at Lance Holt School in 2007 assisting various teachers. She loved how the school incorporates art and creative activities into classroom teaching, as well as the fantastic opportunities facilitated by Debra in the art room. Karen has since been teaching art part-time while also building a career as a picture book illustrator. She re-joined the Lance Holt community in 2013 as our visual arts teacher. Karen lives in Fremantle with her husband Karl and Alice who attends Lance Holt.

After graduating in 1992, Meredith taught Years 1-10 at Northcliffe DHS before travelling overseas. Upon her return, Meredith took up an early childhood/art specialist position in Armadale. With a special interest in early childhood and special needs education, Meredith was fortunate to undertake training as a reading recovery specialist. Meredith is our literacy support teacher and is a regular relief teacher.
Living in a ‘work in progress’ in Palmyra with her husband Dylan and children Indi and Roux who attended Lance Holt School and who are now at high school. Meredith enjoys attempting to live a sustainable lifestyle which includes lots of travel.

Libby became involved as a parent helper. Libby found this experience rewarding and enjoyable and has since gained a qualification as an education assistant. Libby has a passion for learning in and through nature and is a key member of the Bush School program.
Libby, Livius and Trinity live locally and Trinity, a Lance Holt Graduate now attends high school at All Saints College.

Hannah joined Lance Holt School in 2011. She enjoys working with young children and assists our early childhood teachers in providing a stimulating learning environment for the children. When not working at Lance Holt Hannah can be found amongst the fairies at the Fairy Shop in Fremantle.

Deb has worked at Lance Holt School since 2001. She has a special interest in working with children to develop their multimedia skills. Deb is also very experienced at working with students who need additional support with their learning. Deb’s three adult children all attended Lance Holt School.

Jasmine joined the staff in 2009 as PE teacher having worked in a variety of school settings.
Jasmine continues to specialise in early childhood education physical education and has developed the Engage Program running at several primary schools. She lectures in Health and PE unit for the Masters of Teaching course at UWA.
Jasmine is the proud mum of Cooper and Grace.

Emma worked in primary schools in England for ten years as a classroom teacher, music educator and deputy principal before moving to Australia.
Emma has worked as a Music Teacher at Lance Holt and in 2017 will be one of our regular relief teachers. She lives in Beeliar with her husband Mark, who between them have eight adult children, three of whom have attended Lance Holt School.

Libby has a passion for acting and all things theatrical since she played the role of Mary (and the white dove in the stable) in her kindergarten Nativity play. She has loved being involved in all aspects of theatre production throughout her teaching and acting career. Libby has taught at an all girls’ school, an all boys’ school and now is thrilled to be teaching drama with the wonderful, inspiring, creative, imaginative students at LHS. Libby lives in Bibra Lake with her husband, John, and two children, Scarlett and Luka, who attend Lance Holt School.
The Italo–Australian Welfare and Cultural Centre provide us with an Italian teacher for Years 1 to 6. In 2013 we welcomed Carolyn Winterbottom as our Italian teacher and she continues with us in 2017.
Chrissy started working in the office one day a week in 2010 and in 2013 she began a full time position. Her involvement with the school dates from 2002 when her son Jaedyn started Kindy. Jaedyn is planning to study Art in Melbourne and his younger brother Finn attends CBC. She lives in South Fremantle with Phil and their boys.
Tempe started working in the office one day a week in 2013 but her involvement with the school dates to 2010 when her son Declan started Kindy. Tempe has a Business Degree and has worked in marketing and public relations. She lives in Beaconsfield with Ben and their children Declan, Sophia and Huw who all attend Lance Holt School.
