Congratulations to our Visual Arts Teacher, Karen Blair, who won an award at the 2016 Speech Pathology Australia ‘Book of the Year Awards’. Karen, as the Illustrator, and Raewyn Caisley, as the Author, won the 3-5 year old category for their book “Something Wonderful”.

Raewyn Caisley describes the story on her website… “The story of Sam, the 6 year old physicist who wonders if a raindrop really is round and likes to feel the bend in tree branches, this one is all about nurturing creative thinkers. Its about getting out there and discovering physics for yourself too, and about the value of nature play.

Sam is a real person. He grew up on a farm in rural Western Australia and his dad always wanted him to ‘make himself useful..’ Now he builds atomic clocks and he is trying to find out what is in between the smallest things.”
