Thanks to our school community who donated 130 kg of food to a local shelter as part of the fundraising actives of the Great Trolley Race.

The Year 5/6′s  did a wonderful job of providing ideas and feedback for developing this new outdoor play space.

The Fremantle Councils says Kings Square, in the heart of Fremantle, is to be transformed into a thriving community, retail and commercial hub by 2019 and were so impressed with the feedback from all of the schools for the outdoor play space that they organised an ‘exhibition’  that was held in the Fremantle Library.

We were joined by Ricky and Olman from the Nyungar Cultural Group for a very special evening.

We all enjoyed celebrating the local Aboriginal culture with a Smoking Ceremony and a wonderful music and dance performance where the children and families were invited to join in.  The school was successful in successful applying for a PALS grant (Partnership Acceptance Learning Sharing) which helped fund this wonderful event.

Our Kindy children and their Year 2 buddies have been traveling to join in this fabulous program this term.  Students have had the opportunity to feed chickens and collect their eggs, planted seedlings and had a close look at the micro organisms lurking in compost. Huge thanks must be extended to Sarah from Hilton Harvest who has been organising this wonderful learning opportunity.

Our students have learnt about chooks, helped build an insect hotel, played in the nature play area, and helped nurture the garden through planning, planting, weeding and watering. Everyone is welcome to join the team after school every Tuesday.

On Thursday 6th April we were delighted to host “Artist in Residence”, Borri (Monty) Pryor.

Monty is a multi-talented performer who spent the day with our students engaging them in dancing, singing and arts activities.

This band was wonderfully interactive for the children and provided a great overview of music and instruments during their performance. The band took the children on a tour of the classic Rhythm and Blues of the 1940s and 50s.

It was a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed by students, staff and parents we look forward to inviting them back in the future!

“James Foley is a very famous writer. His most recent book is BROBOT which took him three and half years to write!” By Hilde, Year 4

“… we watched him show his comic he made about Brobot – it was amazing! Then he showed us how to draw a person with funny stuff on him like a mohawk and a six pack – it was funny.” By Sophia, Year 4

“He showed us where to put speech bubbles. We drew backgrounds. I did one in space, a cave and a jungle… He also showed us a book that he was working on. It is called Dungzilla.” By Iris, Year 3
